Give Back Program 2011
Palmiero Toyota Scion is proud to announce the winners of the 2011 Give Back Program!
This year the customer vote went to CHAPS (Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program, Inc.)! CHAPS is a non-profit organization located at 944 Liberty Street in Meadville, PA that has been providing mental health services to the community since 1988. Their mission is to support consumers of mental health services, advocate for the improvement of area mental health services, to encourage and enhance the formation of consumer self-help and support network in Crawford County, and to engage in activities that better the lives of persons with mental illness. CHAPS will be receiving a check for $2,500 from Palmiero Toyota Scion! This year the organization will use their financial donation for educational programs for consumers, their families and the community. The funds will also help provide with emergency assistance for homeless persons, holiday gatherings for those alone, and gifts for consumers in local and state hospitals. The Palmiero employee vote went to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Crawford County! They as well will be receiving a check in the amount of $2,500! Big Brothers Big Sisters of Crawford County has two offices; 912 Diamond Park in Meadville, PA and 302 West Walnut Street in Titusville, PA. The organization’s mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. This is done by matching adult volunteers with children who need a role model. Children between the ages of 6-14 are accepted. The children that are matched are able to stay in the program until they graduate from high school. Big Brothers Big Sisters Program has been helping children for over 100 years now. Here in Crawford County they have been impacting children’s lives for 30 years. There are two different programs provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters. The community-based program is the traditional Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship. Volunteer mentors ("Bigs") spend a few hours a couple of times per month with their "Little" engaged in a variety of activities. They may practice a sport, play a board game, take a walk, catch a movie or attend a community event. The scheduling is flexible to meet the needs of the mentors and the young people in different kinds of situations. Some matches meet on weekends or evenings during the week. In Meadville, there is a site-based program at Fairview/Fairmont Outreach. The program utilizes Allegheny College students as mentors. Each mentor is matched with a child who lives at the housing complex. The matches meet on a designated day at a designated time each week at the Outreach only. We have a similar program in Titusville within the school setting. Another great benefit of being Palmiero Toyota’s 2011 Give Back winners is the opportunity to have Toyota match Palmiero’s monetary donation. Since CHAPS and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Crawford County are both 501c organizations the preliminary application process has been started for Toyota to match Palmiero’s $2,500 donation to each charity. Palmiero Toyota would like to thank the other entries for applying for the 2011 Give Back Program. They will each be receiving $150 from Palmiero Toyota Scion.
